Meet our Veterinary Doctors
Dr. Jacy Cook
Owner
DVM: Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, 2001
Areas of interest: Equine medicine, reproduction and surgery. Canine orthopedic surgery.
Life history: Dr. Jacy was born and raised in the Gallatin Valley. After undergraduate school at Montana State, he moved to Washington State for veterinary school. There he met and married Karyn, who is also a veterinarian at AWVH. They have two children with whom they love to share the outdoors. Dr. Jacy enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing and riding horses with his boys.

Areas of interest: Small animal surgery and medicine, exotics, and raptors.
Life history: Karyn is originally from Washington. Through vet school, Karyn also worked at the Woodland Park Zoo, St. Louis Zoo, and the Bronx Zoo. At the end of vet school, she met Jacy who brought her to Montana. They have two very busy boys and too many pets to name. They all fish and ski together. Karyn also likes to quilt, crochet, and work for the Spay Neuter Task Force and Montana Raptor Conservation Center.
Dr. Shari Skifstad Bearrow

Areas of interest: Small animals including exotic pets (birds, reptiles, rabbits, and rodents), dental procedures, and chemotherapy (cancer treatment)
Life history: Dr. Shari is a native of Minnesota and Wisconsin. She moved to Montana in 2003 but maintains her loyalty to the Minnesota Vikings. She and her husband, Russ have a son. Dr. Shari’s summer pursuits include backpacking, hiking, and camping. In the winter she enjoys cross-country skiing, quilting, and traveling abroad. Her animal family includes her 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 birds.
Dr. Meredith Owen

Internship: San Luis Rey Equine Hospital, Bonsall, CA 2011-2012
Areas of interest: small animal general practice including dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and pain management.
Life history: Dr. Meredith Owen found the Gallatin Valley as a young adult and promptly realized that it’s the best place on earth. After completing her veterinary education in 2011 she has worked in both equine practice and small animal practice, finding the pace and camaraderie of small animal practice to be very fulfilling. Outside the clinic she is usually trying to keep up with her small boys with her husband Jesse, exploring the mountains, or riding horses. She has 3 dogs at home and will likely end up with some reptiles since the boys are so interested in them. But no snakes!
Dr. Janine Wells

Areas of interest: ultrasound diagnostic imaging and internal medical cases
Life history: Dr. Janine Wells is delighted to contribute her skills and passion in veterinary medicine to All West Veterinary Hospital as an associate veterinarian. She graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 from Auburn University. She has pursued her practice interests in ultrasound diagnostic imaging and internal medical cases. Her hobbies include hiking, horse riding, camping, and snowshoeing. She and her husband Josh have a pet household including their cat “Rajah”, their dog “Nutmeg”, and their horse named “Flea.”
Dr. Mark O’Connor

Internship: Cornell University
Life history: Dr. Mark O’Connor is a passionate veterinarian specializing in equine podiatry, reproduction, medicine, and surgery. After graduating from University College Dublin in 2021, he pursued internships and a residency at Cornell University. Drawn by the beauty of the western states, he joined All West Veterinary Hospital in Montana. Beyond work, he enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, and blacksmithing with his girlfriend Ananda and their cat “Pud.” With a deep-rooted love for large animals, Dr. O’Connor’s journey from Ireland to the USA reflects his unwavering dedication to veterinary medicine. Through his expertise and compassionate care, he continues to make a positive impact on the well-being of horses and their owners alike.
